Our Team - Zurich Campus

Mrs. Ellie Alexiou (Founder, Curriculum Leader)

Mrs. Ellie was born in Athens, Greece and she studied Mathematics. Despite the fact that she always intended to follow a career in education, post-graduation, she chose to follow an MBA course from which she graduated in 2008 with a distinction. It may seem an oxymoron yet management skills turned out to be very useful to a teacher!

Her interest in Education led her to London where, in September 2008, she qualified as a Teacher from the General Teaching Council for England and Wales (QTS No: 1030338).

Mrs. Ellie is First Aid qualified for Babies, Children & adults. She taught at the Primary classes of "High Barnet Hellenic School" in London for one year whilst training as a teacher at the "Park View Academy" in Tottenham, London.

In September 2009, she moved back to Athens for a year and she taught kids 18 months to 6 years old at "My PlayCe" private school. In 2010, she moved to Zurich, Switzerland and started working at "Zurich International School", where she taught for two years.

In August 2012, she did the next stop in her career and she started leading Kinder Connection International School while her vision for creating her own school became a reality!

Mrs. Ellie is a PhD student in the field of Evolutionary Developmental Psychology. A field that inspired her to build her own school focusing on each child's emotional and academic development.

Mrs. Maira Latta (Teacher of English - Certificate Preparation)

Maira showed from an early age an inclination towards reading and language learning so later on, studying English Language and Literature with a specialization in Linguistics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens was a one-way career path. Soon the passion of teaching was instilled in her so she started pursuing becoming a successful English teacher. After 10 years of having taught more than 200 students in the prestigious private school of Kantas, in numerous language schools such as So Easy and in one to one private lessons, she moved to writing and presenting academic papers in National conferences throughout Greece on issues such as Group Dynamics in the school environment and projects on the European Language Day.

Alongside, she continues teaching English to students no matter their age and competence level, preparing them for Cambridge, Michigan, TOEFL and IELTS exams. Later on, she moved on studying for her Master’s Degree in the Harokopio University of Athens where she completed her degree in Administration of Education and wrote her thesis on the Social Capital of Educators in schools of the 2nd District in Athens.

In 2017 she moved in Zurich, Switzerland. There, she got her CELTA Cambridge certificate becoming a Cambridge accredited English teacher for both young and adult students while continuing teaching in one to one private lessons. After a while she got involved in one of the most prestigious motor sensory integration programs for children, the Australian KindyROO. She underwent extensive training on primitive reflexes inhibition and sensory integration for babies and toddlers specializing in designing and executing various activities such as tactile massage, exercises for strength, coordination, body awareness and balance, vestibular stimulation, large motor development, fine motor skills and musical cultivation. 

Mrs. Elisa Luginbühl (Teacher of German)

Elisa Luginbühl was born in Switzerland and she just finished her bachelor in classical singing at the Conservatory of Music in Lausanne. She started singing at her youngest age, when she was about 6 years old and music has accompanied her since then. When she was 16, she decided to spend her second year of high school abroad because she wanted to learn German and so she moved for a whole year to Berlin.

When she came back to Lausanne, she graduated from High School, took exams to the C2 exam from the Goethe - Institut and passed it with distinction. At that time, she finally decided to study singing professionally and passed entrance exams to the Conservatory. Next to her studies, she started working as a German tutor at the CVAJ for young students between 7 and 16 years old. Then she got hired at the Timbereng School where she taught German for students between 10 and 60 years old.

Elisa has as well been teaching singing privately for the last two years and has enjoyed it a lot. Her experience in teaching has really taught her a lot professionally and humanly and that is why she would really like to keep teaching, here in EvoKids Zürich.

Mrs. Lydia Bratou (Speech Therapy Teacher, Special Education Teacher)

Lydia Bratou was born in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her mother tongues are German and Greek. Lydia studied the field of speech therapy in Greece. After two years of professional experience in Greece, she decided to come back to Switzerland, the place where she was born, in order to attend a Master in Special Education.

Lydia happily became a member of EvoKids’ team in order to help children who learn or communicate in a different way, to maximize their language and communication skills, always respecting their special needs and the unique learning style of each one.

Mrs. Kiki Pagkou (Curriculum Supervisor, Learning Support)

Mrs. Kiki is a graduate of the department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Macedonia. Her working experience as a teacher in few of the most recognised Kindergardens in Thessaloniki, stimulated her interest in Special Education as in her class there were pupils with additional support needs.

As a result, Mrs. Kiki furthered her knowledge on this field by participating in full year seminars and by working with children with Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit, Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism.

Ms. Maria Grigoraki (Early and Primary Years Teacher)

Jovial, curious and studious, has a wide experience in education of K-12 children. Early and primary years’ school classrooms; summer schools and innovative learning spaces constitute her working environment for about 8 years now. She holds a Bachelor degree in Education and Teaching and she is qualified as a Teacher from the National College for Teaching and Leadership of England (QTS No.: 1745963). After three years of professional experience she decided to attend a Master in “ICT - Information and Communication Technology for Education” at the Early Childhood Education Department of Athens University, from which she graduated with distinction. His area of expertise is Education Technology with particular scientific interest in “game based learning” and “digital storytelling”. In addition, several of her research papers have been presented in international scientific conferences. Throughout her teaching career she developed plenty of digitally enhanced educational scenarios and designed as well “mobile media learning” oriented games for museums with the use of mobile devices.

Her lively interest in innovative learning approaches led her to the Model Experimental School of Piraeus; a primary school directly associated to the Primary Education Department of Athens University, which provided her with the opportunity not only to expand her experience as a PYP teacher, but also as a supervisor in training for the Bachelor Student Teachers of Athens University.

Mrs. Athena Marinaki (Teacher of Greek Language, A1-B2)

Athena has studied Classical Philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA) and has specialized in Advanced Grammar and Punctuation. She has served as modern Greek language and modern Greek literature teacher. In her work experience she came across students that have learning disabilities and she has developed learning strategies that aid students to success. Athena speaks also the Greek Sign Language.

Hara Guntli ()

Hara was born in Athens, Greece and raised in Ancient Olympia, Peloponnese where she also competed her obligatory school education until 18 years old.

After high school Hara moved to Athens where she studied as a Multimedia Programmer. Right afterwards she was hired at Theasis Communication and Presentation, where she worked in the corporate marketing and events field for the next 8 years as an events Producer. Her clients included some of the major consumer brands companies such as Microsoft, SAP, Procter & Gamble, Vodafone, Novartis, Mondelez Intl., Beiersdorf, multiple government organizations, Banks, cultural authorities and many more.

With an extensive experience in marketing, project handling and events, Hara moved to Switzerland where she worked as an events coordinator for the Careers Department in International Hotel Management IMI College in Lucerne.

Leaving IMI, Hara was hired in Kolmar AG as a member of the Operations Team, a major Trading house in Zug with an annual turnover of 8 billion USD  in Petrochemicals, handling projects of operations for the Petroleum business.

While she had her two kids and moved from Zurich Hara enrolled her daughter to EvoKids Zurich where she also provided her experience with events production and marketing. After living in Zurich for 3 years she moved to Bad Ragaz and now manages the Evokids Bad Ragaz Campus in St Gallen.

Adrienne Kaergel (E)

Adrienne Kaergel was born in Munich and spent the first four years of her life in Hungary. She then spent her first years of schooling in Germany (near Stuttgart) at a Rudolf Steiner School, whose influence she still accompanies until today, as she says herself. For her an open and creative learning environment is an indication of holistic education, which is well suited to foster every students’ individual needs.

After graduation, in 2008, Adrienne completed a fitness trainer education, and later continued with a part-time postgraduate program in art and creative therapy. She is convinced that body mind and soul form a natural unit and hence need to be promoted equally.  This led her to dedicate professionally to the promotion of physical and mental performance. Until 2013 she worked in a renowned fitness and health center and freelance as a personal trainer.

Her wish, however, has always been to work in the educational sector and so, in 2013, she took up a teaching degree at the College of Education in Weingarten and studied English, art and religious education. She graduated in 2017 with the German state examination.

Grown up in a bilingual family and having relatives in the US and New Zealand, she has always had a connection to foreign languages ​​and is very interested in other countries and cultures. Breaking down linguistic barriers gives people access to worlds, which would not be possible in that extend without a connecting language. Therefore, Adrienne particularly values ​​the early promotion of the English language at EvoKids.
